Jointly Conducted Quarter Peal of Bob Doubles

On Friday 8th July I did my first conducting in a quarter peal! It was great fun and not too hard thanks to an excellent bob doubles conducting course ran by Graham Nabb.

Graham came to our tower (All Saints’, Marsworth) in June to provide a workshop on calling bob doubles and enlightened a number of us in the art of conducting. Great instruction interspersed with a few practices made us all realise that we could call a 60 and a 120 and therefore could plan to call a quarter peal.

One follow-up practice later four of us were able to share the conducting between us and we managed to successful get through a 480 by passing on the conducting at the end of each 120. Following this we realised it was possible and thanks to a few experienced ringers on hand the four of us shared the conducting on a bob doubles quarter peal. A great achievement for us all and well worth it.
