Bell Ringing history

Every month a group of bell ringers rang at my local church and I found they were inspiring. When I would go and lock up the church with my dad on the days they were there, the person who leads it all would said I could do it when I was older. I got to the age where I was old enough (and tall enough) to do it and we organised a lesson in July 2015 for me to start.

I enjoyed ringing a lot but it got to the point where I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I was by myself. When they rang at the ex-vicar’s leaving service one of my friends thought it was amazing and I said to her

“I do bell ringing. If your mum says yes you can do it too.”

She said yes and started learning to do it 6 months after I started. It would’ve been 5 months if I had remember to give her the slip to allow her too! She was a quick learner and still is! She is still not quite as good as me but someday I know she will catch up.

It is now July 2016 – a year after I started! It’s amazing to think how a year ago I was learning how to ring a back stroke with help but now I’m doing ‘wrong places’. It’s pretty special how much I’ve improved over 12 months. This time next year I’m going to do a blog just like this to compare.
