Take part in a striking competition

My Ringing

Striking CompetitionPut an edge on your ringing with the adrenaline rush that only entering a striking competition can fuel. Improve your chances and build on tower camaraderie with a weekly team practice of your selected competition piece prior to the big day. Record your ringing so you can sit together and analyse it, how could it be improved?

Psyche yourself up to perform under the scrutiny of the judges but don’t worry, even if you’re not the team taking home the cup, everyone’s a winner when your striking improves!

You might ring rounds & call changes or simple methods as many competitions are organised for those at the novice stage. The judges are likely to be out of sight so they can hear the ringing but not see which ringers are taking part (they can often be spotted in a parked car behind a hedge!)

Striking competitions are a bit like ‘the X factor’ for bellringers – a chance to show off at whatever stage you’re at – and if your band all turn up in matching team t shirts, everyone will know you’re a force to be reckoned with.

It is worthwhile going to a striking competition to listen to good ringing such as the National 12 bell competition. Many ringers from around the country gather to ring and socialise at this event.
