Regularly ring for Sunday Service

In My Tower

Traditionally the ringing of the bells was a sign that there was a church and a signal that a church service was about to start. What better way of making history than to continue this tradition?

If your tower keeps an attendancesunday ringing register (something advisable for safeguarding purposes) it will be straightforward to monitor attendances for service ringing and practices. Otherwise, you should keep your own diary. Agree with your Tower Captain what will be a reasonable target taking into account frequency of opportunities, holidays and the like.

If you ring regularly for Sunday services, you may find you are high up on the list of people to ask when the Tower Captain is inviting ringers to ring for a wedding, if this happens, you can tick off yet another challenge!

You might want to find out more about the historic relationship between clergy and ringers – try an internet search for Rev. H.T. Ellacombe.
