Personally I am a new teacher (did my ITTS course end of last year in NZ) and now run a New Learners’ session on Sunday mornings at The Bell Tower in Perth, Western Australia along with Adam Beer; Not the easiest place to teach with the long draft. I decided that apart from brand new ringers, any of our lesser experienced ringers who would like the opportunity of going back to fundamental basics to gain more experience of bell handling were totally welcome to join in.
We had a few who put their hands up, and they are currently working on different skill sets not previously remembered or necessarily taught. This is alongside our brand new ringers. It’s currently a slow process due to numbers and limited time, but regular attendance and perseverance is gradually paying off.
I have really only concentrated so far on levels 1 and 2 in ‘Learning The Ropes’ however, now looking much further ahead.
I know this is working as I am now very excited to say that in Western Australia we are organising our own ITTS course for Mod 1 and Mod 2 in November. This is being run for the first time by Australian tutors and is fully booked with experienced and less experienced ringers wanting to know and learn more, and be able to access all the resources offered.
I’ve still got heaps to learn…
Thanks ART!
