On the 22nd October 2015 ringers from Minster, Monkton and Wingham had the rare privilege to ring the bells at Canterbury Cathedral. To do this they had to be checked by a ringing instructor from Margate to see if they were up to the high standard, and they all passed. Its good to get ringers ringing at different towers to give them more experience, as all bells do not ring the same, bell weights vary from 1 Cwt (old money) to 34Cwt being the Cathedrals’ heaviest. Towers vary from having just 3 bells to 13 bells, Minster has 5, Monkton has 4 and Wingham has 8.
All but 2 were trained by an ART trained teacher

Brilliant news, Tony – what an achievement for your ringers, that must have been a great experience for them. Maybe one day some of them will become regular Cathedral ringers.
