Today, 25 March 2017, I helped my Ringing Master Colin Ward, repair the Tenor Stay in our Tower.  We went into the bell chamber, as you do, and saw the slightly damaged Stay so Colin said, “we might as well stay and fix it”.   Sorry for the ‘groans’ to you old hands that have heard it innumerable times, but as a rookie, it sounded funny to me at the time! ( :o)
