Ring on a mini-ring (tenor less than 1 cwt or 50 kg)

My Ringing

Mini RingHave you ever seen a mini-ring and wanted to have a go? You may have seen one at a fete or as an extra activity at a striking competition but been scared to try. Ask somebody to show you what to do and you may be surprised at how easy you find it.

Most people use a slightly different technique to ringing a bigger bell, usually one hand on the sally and the other on the tail end. However, some people just ring with both hands, tower bell style and others use one hand on the sally and two on the tail end. It really doesn’t matter, so long as you feel comfortable.

There are many mini-rings nowadays so there may be one near you. Some mini-rings are mobile and can be set up at events as an added attraction, or used to try to attract new recruits. This might be something to suggest to your Tower Captain if your tower is looking for new ringers.

A smooth, delicate touch is required to control the very light bells and they will drop very quickly if you ring with a jerky style
