Ring for a special occasion

Out and About

special occasionAdd that extra frisson to your ringing calendar, turn up the expectation and pressure to ring well – challenge yourself to rise with your bell to new heights! Know that you are joining with countless other ringing bands across the country to celebrate not only the special occasion but also your skill and courage in getting to that point.

This may be for a state or civic occasion that the whole country would recognise such as:

  • Olympic Games
  • Royal birth, wedding or funeral
  • 5th November fireworks display
  • An historic anniversary.

Or a local or personal special occasion:

  • Someone’s birthday e.g. the Vicar or a 100 year old resident
  • A wedding anniversary
  • The local fete or Victorian evening

What better tribute to the occasion or person than to give your time, skill and sheer energy to ringing that special session of bells, be it rounds, called changes or perhaps some part of a method (not mentioning those QP words)?

The Central Council web site keeps a list of anniversaries to ring for

Write it up for the Branch newsletter or parish magazine. Take a photo of the ringing band for the tower record and fill in the tower log, detailing who rang which bell and what was rung.
