On the 16th June, Lesley Boyle will be tutoring a Module 2C course at Writtle, Essex.
The course is suitable for both new and experienced teachers who are working with bands learning to ring methods. It is not necessary to have attended a module 1 course to attend an M2C, nor to recruit any new ringers from scratch, because putting everything into practice afterwards is focussed on running practices, workshops and teaching existing ringers who are progressing into change ringing.
The day will include a mixture of theory and practical work, covering topics as wide as running a successful and enjoyable practice, how to prevent people from ‘grabbing hold’ in every touch, setting goals with ringers, planning and reviewing a practice and working with ringers who learn in different ways. Exercises in the tower will include how to break methods down into smaller, more manageable steps, teaching theory, helping ringers to develop an awareness of place, ropesight and listening, standing behind and giving timely advice, also various ringing games and activities to aid learning whilst keeping a practice fun.
Following the course, delegates will be asked to run a series of practices or workshops, teaching change ringing at whatever level is appropriate locally and demonstrate their ability to plan and review these using a teacher log book. Once the log book is complete, an ART assessor can be invited to attend a practice and if all goes well, they can sign the teacher off for accreditation with ART.
Course fees are £20 payable to ART and spaces can be requested here using the online course booking calendar.
