Although the majority of ART Training scheme courses take place during the day, Clare McArdle will be tutoring ART Module 1 across two Wednesday evenings in July, making it possible for people to attend who might have other commitments on weekends.
The two sessions will take place at Birmingham St Paul’s, between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday the 4th July and Wednesday the 18th July.
As usual, the course includes a mixture of practical exercises and theory presentations, with delegates working in pairs, putting the techniques into practice.
Module 1 (teaching bell handling) breaks down bell handling into small, manageable stages, starting with the bell down. Teachers can gain confidence from knowing that their learner will not be expected to cope with a raised bell until they have mastered many of the physical actions required to ring.
Following the course, teachers will be given access to the SmART Ringer website where they can register their ringers, review the course presentations, download resources to use in the tower and consolidate some of the course material with an online quiz.
By registering a new ringer onto the Learning the Ropes programme, teaching them to handle a bell and recording a diary of the lessons in a log book, a teacher can work towards accreditation with ART, following a positive visit from an ART assessor who can be invited along to observe a teaching session.
If you are interested in attending this Module 1 at Birmingham, course fees are £20 payable to ART (plus any local contributions for refreshments).
Course places can be requested using the SmART Ringer online calendar here
As all the course content for M1 will need to be covered in the two sessions, delegates will need to commit to attend both evenings in order to have covered all the material.
