Module 2 C Course at Edington Priory, 29th September 2018

Tutored by Les Boyce, this is a Module 2 C course (teaching elementary change ringing) which will take place at Edington Priory in Wiltshire.

The date is 29th September, and the day course will run between 9.15am and 5.15pm.

Edington Priory – Course Venue

This is a full day course with a lunch break where the foundation skill techniques taught in Module 2F are covered in the practical sessions, and then move on to concentrate on the development of change ringing skills using exercises and unusual methods to aid learning. The transition from Plain Hunt to Plain Bob Doubles and Plain Bob Minor is broken down into several simpler, shorter steps, making the jump into change ringing both more gradual and understandable to the new ringer. The theory sessions turn the spotlight on developing leadership skills.

The course is suitable for those able to ring Plain Bob Minor on an inside bell. It is aimed at new and existing teachers, particularly those who have already attended the M1 course in Teaching Bell Handling, although prior M1 attendance is not compulsory.

Following the course, delegates will be given access to SmART Ringer where they can review the powerpoints from the day, register their ringers on the LtR scheme, download teaching resources to use in the tower and take a theory quiz to help consolidate the course materials.

Course delegates are then encouraged to put into practice what they have learned on the day itself, by running practices, teaching sessions and workshops and recording the practice plans in a log book. When a delegate has completed the diary of their practices, they can invite an ART Assessor along to watch them run a practice or workshop and hopefully sign them off for accreditation with ART at the Module 2 level.

Module 2 is suitable for both new and experienced teachers, as there are plenty of ideas for breaking down change ringing and early methods into small, manageable steps so that new ringers have a better chance of success as they progress from rounds onwards.

Course fees are £20 payable to ART, plus any additional local donation to cover refreshments on the day.
